prada bags

bags.jpg
i don’t know how we got to be in such a predicament, but we have too many goddamn handbags, and i’m always trying to unload them on people. these girls from the mediterranean market next door came in and started digging though them so i told them bags $3 each, pretty reasonable i thought. they spin around and tell me “i think this is a real prada bag”. what could i do? i already told them $3 each! they were on the phone conferring with friends as to what the counterfeit indicators were, and i was like, listen, $3 is a good price for a bootleg! they insisted i take their picture and who am i to deny such bargain-motivated charisma?

bags nonetheless $3

george w myers

gwm.jpg

george w myers runs the “breaking world” noise cdr label out of easthampton ma. western mass noise rules because rather than being all tuff gnar “so brutal” harsh noise dudes dressed in black, it’s a lot of goofy farty sweaty jiggly nerds in baggy jamz. anywayzzzzz, if you live out there you’ve seen these posters up at the flywheel and around town- gerge’s hand so light that his xerox + multi-colored spray paint prints look like deft watercolors. killllllaaaaa. big up the dude next time you see him play in one of his 101 bands, or when he DJs his DJ nite (as “purity supreme“).

GWM posters- $3 - $15, you decide.

scully

pat scully

scully is a great guy, he runs tasty skateboards (which we sell at the shop), and he sings in a great band- “the rowdy ones”, which you should never see if you don’t want to get spit on. also he’s psyched about absolutely anything you could point out to him. “epic!” “sick!”. we made scully our employee of the month a few days after he showed up over the summer, shirtless, pounding an arizona tall boy, laughing and telling us “hey, guess what, i work here now!”. pat scully, god bless you!

satan action figure

satan goat

we lucked into a mess of plastic animals, and started cutting them up and hot gluing them back together. this orange billygoat only needed a single cut from a petite hacksaw to transform him into the morningstar. this picture doesn’t do him justice, but let whosoever can take a picture of darkness personified step forward. moms, dads, legal guardians- this toy is seriously fucked up.

microquilts

microquilts

my mom made a small mess of these tiny 3″ x 4″ quilts out of some leftover halloween fabric. they are all different, each one has a part that glows in the dark, and they all iron right on to any cloth due to a backing of “fusable webbing”, which is like a thin net of hot glue that melts and re-forms under a hot iron’s press.

chick tracts

excerpt from

i feel kind of weird having these evangelical comic book tracts in the store- for one, they are supposed to be free and i sell them, but much more importantly, they communicate ideas about how the world is organized that i not only disagree with, but find objectionable. but… they do it in a fun way, and they are little curiousities, and it is interesting and educational to see the power of a good package, and to be aware of someone trying to push your buttons. additionally i really like when there is a series of things that all have the same graphic design, like cliff notes, or man is the bastard records, and chick tracts not only share the same look, but the look is weird. also i like when the devil goes “haw haw haw!”. hi there.

chick tracts $.50

twist-tie demon

twist-tie demon
ok, this is a little awkward, but i guess cha cha had some gentleman suitor (NB: they were both 15) who made her these twist-tie demons as a show of affection. this was years ago and everyone needs to clean house so one day homegirl’s mom shows up with these things and the story (FYI: things didn’t work out qua “workin’ out” but in the words of the poet, “that’s the way of the world”). i guess the dude’s still around and can be located through friends-of-friends (circumventing cha cha), and these things do totally rule, but do they rule enough to fight through the awkwardness of contacting him and trying to get him to make more? i mean, even if it’s not a big deal, it’s still weird, right? anyway we had a couple of these, this is the second-to-last one, nobody say nothing. twist-tie demon- $8?
