fresh 4 color style by empty mountain, who blessed us by contributing to our rent club a few months back. this is a blow up and color-in of a frame from the last issue of his zine, “scenery”. he’s working on a book and a website and spent the last month in florda tattooing people and getting his hand steady. and reading a lot of jack kirby comics. FRESH is the word and

$10 is a price almost too nice.

friday march 2 art show!!!

mixed nuts

hey players,

i cleaned off a goodly chunk of wall space and did some reorganizing and now we have a nice little gallery section of the store, which will rotate out regularly. the first show opens this friday, with a reception from 5 to 8pm. there will be cookies and suicide soda (aka “hockey soda”), and live music in a gallerial vein (if i can work it out). oh, and the show is new paintings and drawings on old records, by jacob berendes. the show will be up for at least three weeks, but only on friday will i give you soda and cookies. or rather, only on friday is giving you soda and cookies part of my job.

lightning bulb

i need dead incandescent lightbulbs (not flourescent) to drawn on, as shown (sort of), and fill up a glass case or glue to hooks and hang from the ceiling. i have some, need more. i’m trying to construct a lightbulb ossuary. anyway if you bring three dead lightbulbs to the store i will give you a special handdrawn pin.

space babies

these space babies hang from the ceiling in a slowly-increasing cloud. mark jenkins is the dude that invented this technique, maybe now that i put a link to him on the internet it’s cool to charge $3 to people that don’t want to make their own ones of these. picture by upinthetrees.

space babies - $3 each.

HBML magic viewer 1

we got this little plastic kaleidoscope and it’s the perfect way to look at the store, simultaneous focus and zone-out, simultaneous isolation and image-bleed. mike t was by last week and took some shots for you folks at home, just holding the sumbagum up to his digi cam. “this is my new art”. ok man, big up to anyone whose boat really floats.

brucie’s hand grenade

bruce bertleman is one of an increasing number of worcester area skate hard stay fresh punk assassins. i saw him at a party and he was so excited- “do you guys still have that dummy hand grenade? do you want to trade it for a bunny suit?”. oh, of course! it’s not a real grenade but it’s iron, and heavy as anything.

skate to create, bruce!

i’m not too into excuses, but my $40 digital camera has proved it’s salt by shitting the bed. sooooo, if anyone out there has a digital camera to give away, that’s something i’d be into. in the mean time, i wonder if you, my community, could ssend me your pictures of things from the store. you know, dressin’ that dress, hattin’ that hat, poggin’ that pog… HARD REPPIN’. email me the pictures- jacob (a) fujichia (.) com. or put them on your flickr or myspace and give me the heads-up buddy. the pictures don’t have to look “profesh”, they can be phonecam or whatever. i guess the picture above isn’t a good example. unless you’re looking for a good example of something that happens in my brain a billion times a second.
