candy machine

candy and pinball

ok, the pinball machine doesn’t work (but it’s close to working (right, sabatinelli?)). and the candy machine i slightly ruined by putting in things i like that i know other people don’t like (hoping they’ll give them to me). so in addition to runts, mike and ikes, hot tamales, and lemonheads, there’s black jellybeans and wasabi peas. that’s cool, right? lots of people don’t know what wasabi peas are, and ask if there is mold on them, so i wrote “it isn’t mold” on the machine, but this grosses people out even more i think. what are you gonna do?

nurse shaggy
sam gas can, did you bring this to the store? i forget. anyway what a mess. no armholes, no official eyeholes either, just tears in the scratchy burlap underlayer to peep through. almost no leg movement means this monster hops or shuffles but does not stride. and the choice of “nurse” as an occupation is one both cute and sinister. in short, this is a real nightmare for someone out there. but then at the same time there is a person for whom this dusty sack is a heretofore missing color. i mean, the world is wide, with many things within.

things to buy

apparel, posters, schemes, sold out online — jacob @ 6:04 pm

the new HBML shirts are now finally online-orderable via the fledgling Fujichia Online Ordering Manifold. so everyone that’s been clamoring about internet t-shirts, cease clamoring (or change your clamor-tune)! these beautiful shirts are 100% cotton, $20 postpaid, designed by mel soter, hand printed by us for us, and only available in LAVENDER.

also, we’re signing people up for the next installment of the HBML rent club. it’s $30 this time, and features prints from nik “hulk out” perry, scott “work/death” reber, and matthew “ambergris” thurber. you can sign up at the store, but it’s even better if you sign up on the internet (easier bookkeeping). there’s only 50 slots available, so don’t sleep on this! thanks for keeping us alive!

harry and the potters live

occurances — jacob @ 3:14 am

last week these guys (both of whom are harry potter) played a show at the store, and brought hot chocolate for everyone too! it was pretty sweet, although i must say that everyone there was into it way more than me (everyone else being way into it). i never read the books, and because of my thing against british children i only saw the first movie (and the brilliant wizard people, dear reader). anyway i still liked it so that says a lot. for some reason i neglected to get cds from them but i will when harry potter b swipes me into the college cafeteria soon (right joe?).

dan wars / hennion postcards c. 1995

misc art — jacob @ 3:17 am

as but a youth, our pal danny wars (picture him like little archie, with a huge head and stubby fingers) and his good friend hennion (who even i cannot picture as a child, cartoon or otherwise) made hundreds of these fairly bonkers postcards and actually sold them at dan’s dad’s record store on the cape. i scanned them in and put them on flickr for you all. included in the set is an unsent letter to andy richter. cuuuuute!
