hey players,
i cleaned off a goodly chunk of wall space and did some reorganizing and now we have a nice little gallery section of the store, which will rotate out regularly. the first show opens this friday, with a reception from 5 to 8pm. there will be cookies and suicide soda (aka “hockey soda”), and live music in a gallerial vein (if i can work it out). oh, and the show is new paintings and drawings on old records, by jacob berendes. the show will be up for at least three weeks, but only on friday will i give you soda and cookies. or rather, only on friday is giving you soda and cookies part of my job.
i’m not too into excuses, but my $40 digital camera has proved it’s salt by shitting the bed. sooooo, if anyone out there has a digital camera to give away, that’s something i’d be into. in the mean time, i wonder if you, my community, could ssend me your pictures of things from the store. you know, dressin’ that dress, hattin’ that hat, poggin’ that pog… HARD REPPIN’. email me the pictures- jacob (a) fujichia (.) com. or put them on your flickr or myspace and give me the heads-up buddy. the pictures don’t have to look “profesh”, they can be phonecam or whatever. i guess the picture above isn’t a good example. unless you’re looking for a good example of something that happens in my brain a billion times a second.

and if you told me to put your birthday in, i probably did. i forgot to put in holidays though, all i got was halloween and the day of the st patrick’s day parade. anyway if you want one they are $5 on the internet from fujichia online ordering mechanism (FOOM). or wing by the store, where they cost less (that’s how it goes, mang).
also, big ups to mike bell smith, nperks and DRM for big-upping us on the internet players ball that is year in the internet 2006! chirp chirp! hey mike, me and ML played actual (not virtual) POGs for the first time the other day at the store and we got super into it and these high school girls were laughing at us and we were like “fuck you guys, we’re poggggggggggggggin’!”.
oh, and while lots of new eyeballs are reading this now (maybe), i should say that it is by no means too late to get started on a shoebox diorama for our dioramarama! the deadline is the 20th of january, which really means any time before the 1st. anyone can participate, and yes, there will be prizes awarded. and if you submit a diorama you will be able to put on your CV that you were in a group show with ben jones‘ dad. for realllllllllllllll. full information just follow the link above.
ryan brigade, who made the afore-mentioned mesothelioma patch, made us this awesome crust logo out of tarantula legs and the sound of glass breaking. i’m psyched, although i have to admit that when he showed it to me i was a little disappointed because i could read it. but then again, i knew what to look for. i’m going to make patches and t-shirts out of this obviously, but before i do, i’d like to know what other people see in this. what other words can you make out? what about if you look at it upside down or sideways?
hey, we’re making a calender to sell (and use) at HBML. if you want me to put your birthday on it, i’ll do it, but you have to promise to buy one (it will be in the $3 - $5 range). just email me or leave a comment in this post. internuts and other (US) far-aways can also join in, as the calender will be in our new online store section, dropping in the first full week of the new year.
also, we’re open this week regular hours. regular daily webpage posts… tomorrowish.
in case you couldn’t tell, we’re on a “a few days” webpage hiatus while we celebrate the holidays in our standard fashion- playing craps for accumulated pocket change, shooting bb guns, eating garbage, and watching dumb movies. no place like home for the holidays…

worcester magazine has a nice article on the store this week- thanks charlene! there’s even a picture of your humble narrator, but i look really weird. holmes said once that people usually look really good doing what they like to do, which is why i used to always try to look asleep when someone tried to take my picture. i should start doing this again, because having your picture taken while you’re explaining yourself to a reporter is (as you can well judge) for the birds.
oh, and speaking of portraiture, this friday (today) bert will be once again drawing life like pictures (of you?) in the store from 3 - 6(ish).
also, the snow ghost might be playing a show this saturday, at the hotel vernon in worcester, with the body, tiny hawks, and frenching action. waht exactly the ghost will do… is unknown. but irregardless, this show is going to rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! also snow ghost’s holiday joke book has appeared just in time, and it is a wig-twister, as per usual.

hey, just a quick heads-up– we will be closed this thursday and friday, for thanksgiving and buy nothing day, respectfully. yes, buy nothing day even applies to weird hole-in-the-wall bric-a-brac-eterias like ours! returning to full splendor (and hopefully with full heat) next week. OKAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
oh, also, we’re printing up a new batch of “paris of the eighties” t-shirts (some of which i’ll be selling online) and i’m sick of red- what new colors should i make? here are the options:

i’m also making a fresh run of HBML shirts in a new messy multi-color design– any color scheme wishes?
